The state of Kentucky is known for several things such as its world renounced Kentucky Fried Chicken, bourbon, Mammoth Cave, and of course horse racing. Right now horses are a major part of Kentucky’s economy. Horses are considered Kentucky’s number one cash crop and there are 80,000 to 100,000 jobs generated from the multi-billion dollar horse industry (Cauthen). Horse racing is what drives the horse industry. Just like any industry the, horse industry is a system. All the workers whose jobs deal with horses get paid from money made at the tracks and without the hard workers such as jockeys and breeders there could not be races. This blog will explore the hard workers who do not get enough credit for how important, difficult and/or dangerous their jobs are. With our main focus on the dedication of jockeys and the importance of horse farms in Kentucky.
